Do you need to monitor your Fuel Oil?
Fuel Oil Consumption
It is
crucial for shipping companies to make strategic decision to optimize and
reduce their fuel oil consumption (FO) and therefore to decrease their CO2 emissions to be compliant with international
regulations. An a priori estimation of vessels’ fuel oil consumption for a
forthcoming voyage has not been an easy task yet. Fuel oil consumption is
accounting for almost the 50% of the total voyage cost.

fuel oil
monitoring Analysis Agent is useful to the user for the following reasons:
√ Quantifies the amount of
fuel used, and therefore gives a reliable cost calculation
√ Leads to effective and
efficient agreements between the charterer and the maritime company
√ Supports the cost
estimation of a future voyage
√ Optimizes the fuel
effective route planning of a future voyage
√ Helps the budget planning
of a maritime company
√ Indicates possible vessel
faulting/fouling
By collecting
and processing in real time information such as:
·
The output of
the flowmeters, e.g. the FO consumption of the various consumers (Main Engine,
Diesel Generators, Boilers, etc.)
·
Cargo profile
parameters
·
Hull and
propeller operation parameters
·
The vessel
speed with respect to the ground
·
Sea/Weather
conditions
As long as particulars
regarding the vessel, the rudder, the propeller, are known, the
following quantities can be calculated:
·
The actual
fuel total consumption per consumer and the actual fuel consumption rate of the
vessel
·
The
normalized fuel consumption rate of the vessel with respect to the fuel that is
used
·
Information
about the correlation between the fuel consumption and the vessel speed
·
Information
about the correlation between the fuel consumption and the power delivered to
the propeller
·
The
comparison with reference lines such as the charterer’s agreement or the sea
trial
